2023 was the start of our creative journey with Major League Soccer superstars, LA Galaxy. Our original creation was an opening trailer for the season which highlighted the rivalry between LA Galaxy and LAFC while also letting the fans know that this game would be happening where it all began for LA Galaxy – at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA. Due to extreme weather conditions, the game was called off at the last moment and was rescheduled for independence day. To amplify the rivalry once more, we were tasked with creating a variety of campaign assets for the rescheduled Rose Bowl Stadium game and continue where we left off earlier in the season. For this campaign we created three different films: Rose Bowl Ticket Push Trailer: The first of our trailers, the intent of this film was to build up hype before the big game while also serving as a final ticket sales push to help sell out the Rose Bowl game. Our film successfully helped make that happen! Match Day -1 Hype Film: A reminder that tomorrow was the day that something historic was going to happen. In Stadium / Broadcast Hype Film: This film was played in […]
Celebrating 20 years of the iconic Dignity Health Sports Park, the home base of LA Galaxy of Major League Soccer, we were thrilled to curate a video sizzle reel showcasing the stadium’s multifaceted history for their social media platforms. We sifted through years of archival footage, searching for those standout moments that have defined the stadium over the past two decades. This journey took us through an array of events, from electrifying boxing matches to captivating live music performances, all destined for our final cut. Our sizzle reel not only narrates the transformation of the stadium but also interweaves iconic MLS football moments, a diverse range of sports events, TV shows, and memorable live concerts. Enhanced with FPV drone footage, dynamic motion graphics, and a distinct logo sting, our creation honors the rich history of this versatile event venue. For more than a decade we’ve been getting creative with Coach on a wide variety of campaigns and visuals, helping to further cement them as one of the leading fashion brands around the world. We’re proud to share our latest collaboration with Coach, bringing them one step closer to our hearts – this time we helped Coach with the creation of a new sub brand visual identity that is focused on sustainability, Coachtopia. Enter, Coachtopia It’s been a long time coming and we’re so excited to share all the creative work we’ve put into Coach’s new sustainability-focused brand, Coachtopia – just in time for this year’s Earth Day too! We’re extremely proud to showcase the wide range of creative collaborations we have worked on for Coachtopia, a brand that is putting circular fashion first through the use of pioneering production, technology and lifecycle concepts. And the coolest part? Coachtopia is all centered around a collective of Gen Z designers, influencers and activists that are all working together to make positive impact in the world. If you’re fans of our work, you may have already seen the Coach (Re)Loved ReMade advertising campaign that was focused on sustainability, where old materials were […]
One spring day in early 2023, Coach asked us to put together a crew that would be able to capture content across sixteen different sets, spread out across Gantry Plaza State Park in Long Island City, NY. As part of our BTS capture Coach also wanted us to interview and shoot portraiture with all ten of the talent that would be featuring in their campaign film. Add in to the mix that there was basically no time slots put aside for our work due to time constraints and we found ourselves having a lot of fun pulling people aside, chatting with them and capturing their personalities under seemingly impossible circumstances – one of our interviews was half done walking between sets! We put together two units, one that would focus on trying to be ten different places at once and capture as much true behind the scenes as possible (see main film above), the second unit focused on pulling talent aside, chatting with them and capturing portraiture. This was probably one of the most challenging, yet fun shoots we’ve done so far with Coach. With multiple locations and ten people to capture in a tight timeframe, it was time […]
As part of our multi-year collaborations with Coach’s new sustainability focused sub brand, Coachtopia, we were given the very rare but beautifully awesome task of creating whatever we wanted! The brief was simple, create as many different logo stings as we could for Coachtopia in a month with the specific point of reference being how MTV did it in the 90’s! Not every day, you get such an awesome and open ended brief but it was one we were excited to tackle particularly as logo stings will become a main stay in Coachtopia’s visual identity and all the content they create in the future. This really was the opportunity for us to put the RIOT stamp on the Coachtopia brand for the foreseeable future. Our creative freedom was truly unleashed with these logo creations. We attempted to make logos for every personality type, with some being made with the intention of being at the start of films, some at the end and some that you can split up and tell the story as a book end. Our mix of 21 hand drawn, cute, glitchy, retro, and trippy Coachtopia logos have wild colors, cool motions and deep texture to each tell […]
A very unique and interesting part of our collaborations with Coachtopia this past couple of years was our hand-drawn animated how-to video for their Coachtopia app which launched today. All Coachtopia products created will feature an emblem that has an NFC chip embedded within it. This NFC chip serves as your product’s passport and will allow you to track your product’s lifecycle. In the future, you’ll also be able to see how one product becomes another, or who previously owned your product etc. This chip does a lot of cool stuff but most people have no idea what an NFC chip is, or how to activate it. That’s where we come in. Our film was conceived, storyboarded, and created as a vertical aspect ratio (9×16) as it will live solely on the Coachtopia app. We utilized Bonnie, a flower to help welcome everyone to Coachtopia, demonstrate how to use the NFC chip, explain what it is, where to find it, and what this unique technology will allow you to do. We had Molly, one of the Coachtopia community members come out to our studios to record the voice for Bonnie in advance of the animation process in our booth. Utilizing […]
Continuing our partnership with LA Galaxy, we were excited to develop the premiere episode of their monthly Apple TV series, “Galaxy Rise.” This series focuses on enriching the local LA community, promoting inclusivity in sports, and fostering open dialogues for everyone. For the Galaxy Rise project the idea was for us to create the first episode and set the standard of the show in terms of look, feel and vibe and then hand off all created assets to the LA Galaxy internal video team to create the remainder of the episodes for the season. Our creative team utilized a rich array of clips, featuring influential speakers and community interviews, to craft an eepisode that resonates with all viewers, particularly the younger, more impressionable audience who can be the real change-makers. Maintaining the visual style from our other LA Galaxy collaboration “The Future is Now” and the opening trailers, we incorporated our distinctive full-screen text animations and dynamic motion graphics. This approach not only ensured stylistic consistency but also heightened the narrative’s energy and impact. Experience the entire episode in the player above and browse through some of the exceptional graphics in the gallery below.
We’re very excited to share our ninth collaboration (!) with the Washington Commanders. Our “Making The Mascot” film is a longer form follow-up to the recently released Major Tuddy mascot teaser that was shared across a variety of media channels including social media and in stadium prior to Major Tuddy’s official reveal. Shot in documentary style over a few months, our creative agency directed the internal Washington Commanders content team on what would help create a compelling and detailed glimpse into the creation of their official mascot, Major Tuddy. We captured interactions with players from the past and present, fans, the club’s president, as well as Tuddy on the pitch for his reveal, including celebrations with the players after a touchdown. Of major importance was to shoot the making of Major Tuddy’s mascot outfit by Bam Mascots in Toronto, Canada. During this capture we were able to highlight initial prototypes and illustrations all the way through to interviews with the hands-on craftspeople. The materials, drawings, and details were all included to show Major Tuddy’s creation in a variety of stages to help fans visually understand all the details that went into the making of Major Tuddy. You can watch […]
Our team at Riot NYC is thrilled to announce our latest collaboration with the Washington Commanders, marking a significant step in their historic rebrand with the introduction of their new and first ever mascot, Major Tuddy. The film, which was created to introduce Major Tuddy to fans on social media was also played at FedEx Field, and made a big impact and be eye-catching for both small screens and stadium-sized displays. Working with the Washington Commanders, we brought Major Tuddy to life in the green screen clips and combined it with footage from the Commanders archives to create a compelling story. Major Tuddy’s character pays homage to the nickname “The Hogs” given to a the Washington Redskins most famous offensive line that were responsible for Washington Redskins Super Bowl wins in the ’80s and ’90s. We also included scenes of the Hogettes, fans known for their wild outfits and pig snout masks. With a mix of humor, player interactions, exciting visuals, and references to Washington Commanders history, we created a high-energy film that was shared on all the Commanders social media channels and received widespread coverage in media outlets. Stay tuned for our next project, “Making The Mascot,” a […]
A spooky Halloween clip for the Washington Commanders social media channels to build up hype for their game against the Indianapolis Colts.
