Victoria Brown is a senior SoulCycle instructor in New York and has been with the company since 2012.

Her idea of a great class: you were having so much fun that the workout happened by accident. To her, SoulCycle is about finding a stronger version of who you already are. The music is hip-hop, a lot of EDM, a bit of everything. The only rule is that it has to make you feel good.

The sigh of relief

Her favourite part of any class is the moment right after you’ve done something really, really difficult. It ends, and the whole room lets out a sigh of relief.

Around town

We followed her down the stairs with a coffee, through a street fair, past the carnival games and over to Williamsburg, where the Williamsburg Bridge and the East River made a decent backdrop.

Lean in

Her best piece of life advice comes from her grandpa: always keep leaning in the direction you want to go, and you’ll eventually arrive.

Alongside the films, we shot a portraiture loop of every instructor against a white backdrop, made to sit beside their name and story on their SoulCycle profile. This is Victoria’s.
