Fun Friday: Presidential Debate Recap
Not sure how many of you guys watched the first Presidential debate, but we tuned in to watch what ended up being a very prepared, yet seemingly nervous Hillary Clinton battling with a very unprepared, loud and brash Donald Trump that used the verbal interruption, stating “wrong” over and over at Clinton in what seemed to be an attempt to distract people from the details Clinton was discussing.
Since the debate we have seen numerous parodies and joke videos surrounding Donald Trump’s performance that night, a lot focusing on his constant sniffing throughout the entire debate. What we didn’t see however from the bunch was what stood out to us most after a few days of letting it digest, and that was Trump interrupting Clinton over and over and over again telling her she was “WRONG!”.
As such we decided, as part of our #funfriday series to put together a Donald Trump parody video. The idea was to make a seamless loop, which is simply Trump stating “WRONG” and have it to the point that a viewer might get lost in it and find themselves watching it for a minute or two in the hope that something different might happen – which it never does!
We started by cutting out Donald’s head from the film – utilizing around 24 frames for our animation. Next we drew up vector versions of Trump’s suit. Once they were both working and looking good together, we increased Trump’s head size because, well everything is funnier when someone has a massive head! Finally, we did some weird Kaleidoscope fun with Donald’s head so that as he says “wrong” there are a number of mouths behind him mouthing the same. We finally tripped the whole thing out by making the background tie-dye like, changing colors from blue to purple throughout the animation.
Once our visuals were done we moved into audio, adding some Hillary clips alongside Donald’s constant “wrong” speech. Last but not least we composed a beat that seamlessly looped forever across the whole thing, this is the piece that makes you feel like something different might happen because people are used to music having repetitious moments for a while, so you keep listening thinking this is maybe a verse passage, waiting for the chorus to drop which never happens.
Put it altogether and you have this hilarious and fun piece of work that has the ability to zone you in and lose some minutes of your life on a seamless loop across multiple mediums that is designed to entertain and hypnotize you. Keep your eyes peeled for more #funfriday pieces in the future.
