Sunglass Hut: Halloween 2015 Social Creations
Halloween 2015 was brimming with spooky, quirky inspiration, and we were all in. After crafting Coach’s Halloween social imagery, our friends at RXM Creative approached us with a playful challenge: create something extraordinary for Sunglass Hut that tips its hat to the iconic “Thing” from the Addams Family. It was our kind of brief—delightfully strange, unpretentiously clever, and full of room to play.
What makes “The Thing” legendary, in all its iterations, is its purposefully low-budget charm. Its slightly scrappy nature has always been its strength, and we knew we had to preserve that spirit in our creations. With just one light, a green cloth, green cuffs, and the power of After Effects rotoscoping, we brought our own version of “The Thing” to life—filmed entirely in a single day inside the conference room of The Yard office space in Flatiron.
In our take, “The Thing” sneaks onto the scene, grabs a pair of sunglasses, and wanders off in mischievous triumph. The result? Two quirky, endlessly looping films that capture the Halloween vibe with a cheeky twist. Both were delivered as videos and animated GIFs, giving Sunglass Hut the versatility to share them across all platforms—everywhere and anywhere.
Above, you’ll find our favorite version looping in landscape. Below, you can dive into the alternate cut and explore the animated GIFs that kept the Halloween spirit alive in Sunglass Hut’s social feeds. For us, it’s proof that a little creativity and a lot of imagination can go a very long way.
