HOW TO: Pair the RED Komodo Link Adaptor with the RED Hydrogen One Phone
November 21, 2020 by riotwashere in Filmmaking 0 Comments

The RED Hydrogen was a unique approach for RED and one that offered a lot of promise. That was until the company decided to change direction and canceled the RED Hydrogen One indefinitely with no further development – including the previously promised add-ons. For the early RED Hydrogen One adopters this was likely annoying and, after cancelling the RED Hydrogen One they offered a $1000 discount to RED Hydrogen One owners as a discount towards their new and very sought after micro cinematic camera the RED Komodo. As of right now, if you’re an existing Hydrogen owner you can still get the $1000 discount until some time in December 2020. Weirdly, however, the release of the Komodo also rejuvenated people’s interest in the RED Hydrogen One phone – a discontinued but highly sought after device. Currently, you can get a brand new, unboxed Hydrogen One on ebay for $250-300, a sixth of it’s original cost and trust us, it packs a punch for that price point – so much so we just bought a second one. The RED Hydrogen One comes into its own as a set control and monitoring device. It can be used as a control for a […]

Song / Video of the Day: “Half Below” by TEPR
October 12, 2016 by riotwashere in Music, Filmmaking 0 Comments

We’re always on the look out for a good track to work too. If you get the right song, where you just can’t help but jive with it, then you’re golden. You’re inspired, your ass is moving back and forth in the seat – you’re just generally far more happy with your current situation because of that song. Well “Half Below” by TEPR is our latest “song to work to” gem that we discovered and just can’t get enough of. We were so inspired in fact that we also put together some of our own imagery inspired by listening to the song on loop. We recommend you listen to the song a bunch of times before actually moving on to the video at all. Fall in love with the song first and the video gives you this awesome addition to something you weren’t sure could get better. The song version is 5:55 in length, whereas the video version is just a minuscule 2:14 – although it packs a massive punch in that short time with some fantastic inspiring visuals that are unique, well done and funny (our favorite being the skull kitting himself with his bones as if he is […]

Video Of The Day: Moderat – Reminder
September 6, 2016 by riotwashere in Filmmaking 0 Comments

I fell IN LOVE with this song very quickly. I went from listening to it once, to listening to it during a whole random drive I was on. I had left Downtown LA and was looking for some cool coastal roads to drive on. Highway 1 didn’t let me down going up through Malibu and Ventura and then cutting back through the mountains back to Downtown LA. “Reminder” by Moderat was the first song that came on when I started my drive and I literally kept repeating the song this whole drive. Trust me, it doesn’t get old. I’m even listening to it for the 1,000,000th time as I write this to truly capture the art that is “Reminder.” All of this love and I haven’t gotten to the video yet which takes an already incredible piece of art and makes it even better. The video is a very slick, video game-looking black and-white animation. Directed very well and with a clean, crisp look the film depicts a rebellious teenager who slaves away in a dystopian world, harvesting crystals from a vast grey landscape. This sparkling bounty is given as an offering to a tribal deity, who resides in a […]

Video Of The Day: Ages – Chances feat. Johannes Eder
September 5, 2016 by riotwashere in Filmmaking 0 Comments

The xx originated that, modern echoey, ethereal guitar tone that they always use but when “Chances” starts you would swear you were about to listen to a The xx track. That is not the case though, this song doesn’t go that way at all, Ages end up using it in a more dance music-oriented way that works much better in practice than my description sounds. When the four on the floor comes in it does so subtly but when the chorus drops “Chances” becomes some weird anthemic, chilled-out dance track with a half-time beat that I get goosebumps for. There are all sorts of cool sounds in this from the heavy snare to the weird glitch rolls and sounds in the background. This song is for the “boy racer” in all of us, pop “Chances” on the sound system and drive through your local high street like a king! Then of course we have the video, an absolutely epic visual adventure, with the use of very cool alpha and luma masks. Sadly I can’t find any information about who directed, created or produced the video which is a shame as we always like to follow the best talent out there […]
